Due to the anticipated volume of last-minute submissions, MTNA advises you to submit your registration early. Technical support and staff assistance will be available 8:00 A.M.–4:00 P.M. Those with an application in process or with otherwise incomplete applications will not be allowed to finish their submission. There will be no exceptions.
Please note:
- STATE COMPETITIONS: With the uncertainties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, states have the option in 2020 to hold live or video competitions. Search for your state to verify the type of competition and other details. Entrants are responsible for verifying the format (live or video) prior to entering the competition.
- DIVISION COMPETITIONS ARE AN ONLINE-VIDEO ROUND. Videos for the Division round are not submitted until after the state competitions. Instructions will be sent to state winners and representatives.
- NATIONAL FINALS ARE A LIVE ROUND, March 13–17 in Atlanta, Georgia.
- Teachers are responsible for verifying all repertoire on the applications of their students.
The following should be available prior to completing the application:

- COMPOSITION: computer-generated PDF score and MIDI file. (mp3 files or other audio files are not accepted).

MMTA Fall Auditions Information
MMTA 2020 Fall Auditions Information

Dear MMTA Membership,
Please see the Auditions Handbook (click link above) for details regarding our 2020 MMTA and MTNA auditions. Since the Missouri competitions are all by video submission, there are some significant changes. Here is a quick overview:
– Videos will be submitted online via YouTube
– Contestants will be anonymous (by name) and will submit videos via an assigned competitor number provided after registration
– Judges will be instructed to assess the quality of musicianship displayed, rather than recording and instrument quality
– The choice of using accompaniment (in repertoire that normally includes it) is not required and is at the discretion of the competitor/teacher. A pre-recorded or online accompaniment can be substituted in place of live accompaniment
– Musical scores (hard copy or electronic) are not required for either MMTA or MTNA this year due to copyright law. It would be good to keep an original copy on hand, in the rare instance that a judge might request it for a more obscure or unknown work
– MMTA competitor fees have been reduced to $25/entry for both District and State this year. The MMTA Teacher Fee has also been suspended since there are no live auditions
– Repertoire requirements for all categories (including memorization, when applicable) remain the same as in past years. Please refer to the Handbook regarding guidelines on maximum video length
Registration for MTNA is still via www.mtna.org and should open soon.
Look for another email within the next week regarding the opening of registration for MMTA District Auditions. Like last year, registration for MMTA will be via www.missourimta.org
More details on registration as well as how to submit videos will be provided at that time.
Sincerely,
Kyu Butler and Jason Hausback
